About the GERD Study

Approximately 240 participants will be selected and enrolled in this study which will be conducted at around 60 study sites in about 8 different countries of the United States and Europe. Those people who will be considered eligible to take part in this study who are suffering from erosive gastritis due to GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease) and the treatment options available in the market are not effective.

This is a double-blind, double-dummy study in which two different drugs are being compared to check the level of effectiveness for this disease. This would mean that you will either receive the study drug or the drug with which this study drug is being compared (lansoprazole) or a placebo (drug look-alike with no active ingredient).

The GERD Clinical Trials will take a total of 60 days. You will be invited to the clinic for a total of 6 visits with additional 3 telephone calls for different assessments. Out of these 60 days, the first 7 days will be for screening when your eligibility will be confirmed by conducting various exams and health-related questions. Then two study treatment phases will occur, each of 4 weeks followed by a last (end of study) visit.

We will be comparing the study drug with another drug that is approved by the FDA and is readily available in the market. Evaluation will be based on the healing capacity and efficacy of both drugs.

*Participating in the GERD Clinical Trials does not cost you anything. Instead, it compensates for the time and travel of those eligible. No insurance is required to volunteer in any of our clinical trials.

Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) is a digestive disorder that affects the lower esophageal sphincter, the ring of muscle between esophagus and stomach that prevents the acidic content of the stomach from backwashing into the esophagus.

Revive Research Institute is conducting clinical trials for GERD. There will be 240 participants in this study at about 60 study sites in about 8 countries including the United States and Europe.

You will be requested to sign an Informed Consent Form (ICF) after your eligibility has been confirmed. Once it’s signed, several study-related questions will be asked, after which you would be asked to go through certain assessments. Study treatment is given after you have qualified as a participant.

What is Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)?

When stomach acid runs down the tube (esophagus) that connects the mouth and stomach, it’s called Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD). This backwash (acid reflux) might irritate the esophageal lining. GERD is defined as mild acid reflux occurring at least twice a week or moderate to severe acid reflux occurring at least once a week. Acid reflux affects a significant proportion of individuals at some point in their lives.

Heartburn is the most common GERD symptom (acid indigestion). It usually feels like a burning sensation in your chest that starts below the breastbone and travels up your neck and throat. Acid reflux can cause burning, pressure, or pain which can last up to 2 hours. It typically worsens after a meal.

Heartburn pain is often confused with the pain of heart disease or a heart attack, but the two are not the same. It affects more than 60 million Americans at least once a month, and more than 15 million individuals, including many pregnant women, experience it every day.
